A useful itinerary gives your day direction without turning it into a checklist. Start with a few priorities, understand the distances, and let the rest of the day find its own pace.
01. Choose one main experience each day.
Start with the activity you would most like to do. Put it on the plan first and keep other stops optional. On a family holiday, leave room for everyone’s interests and energy levels.
02. Group nearby places together.
Mark your ideas on a map and look for small clusters. A historic site, a nearby walk and somewhere to eat can make a satisfying day without repeated trips across a city.
03. Count the whole journey.
Allow time to get to the station, wait for transport, find the entrance and take a break. Map estimates are only part of the picture. Include a comfortable buffer around anything with a fixed start time.
04. Check opening and booking details.
Look at the attraction or transport provider’s own website for current opening days, entry times and reservation requirements. Keep your booking details with the relevant day in your plan.
05. Leave a little of the day unplanned.
Keep a free morning, a slow afternoon or a nearby alternative. A café you notice along the way, an interesting local event or a change in the weather should not have to derail your trip.
Opening times, transport services and booking requirements can change. Recheck them with the provider close to your visit.
